What are Lowlines

Australian Lowline Cattle are small and beefy original Aberdeen Angus genetics, renowned for low-birth weights, stocky bodies, early maturity, a high dressing out ratio with high quality cuts

Lowline cattle were developed at the Trangie Research Station in N.S.W. Australia as the result of a research project started in the early 1970's as part of a project to investigate the implications of selection for growth rate with the ultimate goal being to produce more beef per acre. This herd, based on Angus cattle, was kept closed from 1974.

In October 1993, the new South Wales Department of Agriculture conducted a dispersal sale with the research herd released into the industry

That sale formed the basis of today’s Lowline herd with Lowlines being introduced into the USA, Canada, U.K. and Europe.
